Public Participation & Involvement

Welcome to the Public Participation & Involvement Page, your source for information on how you can be part of Keeping Hidden Valley Lake Clean!

Things we do everyday at home can threaten rivers, lakes and streams.

There are many small steps that you can take to help reduce storm water pollution in our lakes, rivers, and streams. The best way to reduce storm water pollution is through prevention at the source. If we understand the problem and how to prevent it, we can clean up our waterways and ensure the health of our environment. Below are ways how you can Keep Hidden Valley Lake Clean.

  2.
  3. Recycle motor oil and other vehicle fluids.
  4.
  5. Throw litter in its place.
  6.
  7. Clean up after your pet.
  8.
  9. Check your vehicles for leaks and repair them!
  10.

Auto Maintenance

A drop of oil or other vehicle fluid on the ground may not seem like much, but a small leak can cause as much harm as a major spill.

Car Wash

Washing your vehicle at home can send contaminants into waterways if they wash down the street into a storm drain and directly into a river, lake or stream.

Hazardous Materials

Cleaning products, batteries, and many other harmful pollutants can accidentally run into drains or drainage ditches and from there into waterways.

Lawn Care

Your lawn may not be as "green" as you think. Fertilizers and pesticides can end up downstream and harm aquatic life. Find out how you can maintain a healthy lawn and prevent water pollution at the same time.

Pet Waste

Picking up after you pet may not be the most pleasant chore, but it can prevent water pollution.

Trash / Litter

Trash and litter can clog storm drains and become a breeding ground for pests. When washed into storm drains, trash can cause harmful effects downstream.
