Stream Cleanups
Everyone has seen an area of our watershed that is in need of some TLC...wellwer are ready to help! At least two stream clean ups will be held and other watershed clean up activities will take place involving all four counties! These events are fun and exciting days where th community comes together to make a difference in our environment. Participating in a clean up is great for groups and organizations but also is a great way for the general public to make a difference.

Septic System Public Meetings
Many landowners have a septic system on their property, BUT how many actually know how the system works and how to maintain it? These meetings are a way to create public awareness of the problems associated with a neglected septic system and a means to correct or prevent these problems.

Workshops and Field Days
Three workshops or field days will be held about conservation tillage for farmers to address the many reasons to practice conservation tillage and provide information on how to incorporate this method into their lifestyle. Another field day will be held in the fall regarding Streambank Stabilization. This field day is to help landowners propertly stabilize their streambanks and educate them about what permits are needed to do so.

Pond Clinics
Educational water quality monitoring activities for teachers, students and landowners is only a taste of what is offered at our pond clinics. Many other exciting topics such as fisheries, plant identification, and pond management will be explored, making these fun-filled events for any age!

Presentations and Curriculum
Visiting classrooms and events to give presentations to students is perhaps one of the most important activities done by the SLCWP. Eight presentations to local students, K-12, will be administered about topics such as non-point source pollution and water quality monitoring. If an educator in unable to book a presentation in their classroom, curriculum is provided on these topics to promote future natural resource education.
